KUNST OP KAMERS – Het Vervolg Project Fort Spijkerboor, De Rijp, the Netherlands

The project for this exhibition explored the relationship between modern art and historical spaces by placing contemporary works in old, confined environments. For example, by hanging large abstract paintings in small rooms or displaying graphic projections on ceilings, a tension was created between scale, form, and context. Visitors were challenged to look differently: close to the work, to experience details and movement, or upwards, to rediscover the space.
The combination of modern art and historical architecture emphasized how meaning and experience can change depending on time and context. The work played with contrasts between the past and the present and showed how art can transform a historical space. Through the dialogue between old and new, an experience was created in which time, movement, and perception merge into a new, contemporary experience.
